Biostimulators
A gradual change in collagen and contour, planned beside — not instead of — a careful look at your features.

The visit
About biostimulators
Collagen rebuilds on its own schedule. Biostimulators are injectables planned around that slower pace, which is why this visit stands apart from a hyaluronic acid filler appointment. The aim is a gradual change in your own collagen, not a same-day fill that you can see before you leave the room.
The products discussed are Radiesse® and Sculptra®. They are not hyaluronic acid gels, and they should not be described as if they were. Each is used when a provider wants the tissue to do more of the work over time. Where the volume changed, and how quickly you hope to see something, decides whether this category even belongs.
Weight loss can leave the face or body looking deflated, and that is one reason people ask. Cheeks, folds, facial balance, and selected body areas can be part of the conversation. Swelling and bruising can occur. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and an infection in the area are reasons the answer may be to wait.
Who it’s for
A fit is a clinical decision.
This visit is for someone who has already heard that hyaluronic acid shows sooner, and who is willing to trade that immediacy for a slower collagen plan. It may be a cheek that has emptied, a fold that needs support rather than a line of gel, or a body area that changed after weight loss.
It is a poor fit if you need a shape you can judge the same afternoon, or if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or dealing with an infection where the product would go. Whether treatment is appropriate is settled before a date is chosen.
What it can support
Benefits, without a promise.
Your collagen, on a slower clock
Radiesse® and Sculptra® are planned to encourage a gradual collagen response. What develops over the following weeks and months is the part your provider will describe, and it does not arrive on one shared calendar for every person.
Two products with different behavior
Radiesse® and Sculptra® are both biostimulators, and they are still not interchangeable. Your provider explains how each is discussed for the area in question. The choice follows tissue, timeline, and history, including any filler you have had.
Face, balance, or body
Cheeks and folds are common facial starting points. Biostimulators may also be part of facial balancing, or of restoring areas that look deflated after weight loss. Body contouring of this kind is not a surgical lift. The area is chosen in the room.
A series, when the tissue needs it
A single sitting is not always the whole plan. The number of sessions depends on your tissue and on healing. Swelling and bruising can occur after each visit. How much change you notice, and when, varies.
What to expect
Consultation, treatment, and aftercare.
- 01
Deciding whether gradual is the right pace
Consultation separates this category from hyaluronic acid filler. You will talk through cheeks, folds, facial balance, or a body area, and through pregnancy, breastfeeding, or infection if any of those apply. If you need an immediate shape, a different tool may be the honest recommendation.

The biostimulator appointment
Treatment places Radiesse® or Sculptra® in the plan you agreed to. It is an injection visit, and it can be staged across more than one date. You leave knowing what was used, what swelling may look like, and when a review makes sense.
- 03
While collagen is still developing
Aftercare is specific to the product. Swelling and bruising can occur and usually ease. The collagen-related change is discussed as gradual. The result depends on your tissue, the sessions, and healing.
How it fits
Part of a root-cause plan.
Collagen is a repair process, not a product you can photograph on day one. Sleep, nutrition, inflammation, and the reason the volume left — age, weight loss, or both — change what a biostimulator can reasonably be asked to do. Caleyo’s wellness lens asks those questions before a vial is chosen, because a syringe cannot stand in for a body that is still under-fueled or inflamed.
The aesthetic plan and the health plan are allowed to inform each other. A face or body area that looks empty after weight loss may need biostimulatory support, and it may also need the nutrition conversation that sits in this practice. If the tool cannot do what you hope, that limit is part of the visit.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are often noticed sooner. Radiesse® and Sculptra® are biostimulators planned for a more gradual collagen change. They are not the same category, and your provider will say which behavior fits the area.
Radiesse® and Sculptra®. They are not interchangeable. The choice depends on the area, your tissue, your history, and how quickly you hope to see a change.
Cheeks, folds, facial balancing, and selected body areas, including places that look deflated after weight loss, can be discussed. This is not a surgical lift. The area is chosen in consultation.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and an infection in the treatment area are among the reasons to wait. Swelling and bruising can occur in people who do proceed. Candidacy is decided before you are booked.
The collagen response is gradual. How much change develops, and over what stretch of time, depends on your tissue, the number of sessions, and healing.
